Geraldton

· Australia,Museums Etc

While in Geraldton we took in what is the largest city between Perth and Darwin. Our first morning (and our last) were both spent with breakfast at the Saltdish. My first morning I feasted on sweet corn fritters with salsa and guacamole. The other day it was a delicious Spanish omelet. They have a lot of the usual fare as well (eggs Benedict, etc.) but it was nice to see some alternative options for breakfast.

It’s got a nice downtown area near the beach, so we spent a lot of time walking up and down checking out different buildings and parks. We stocked up on lots of tourist information at the center, or dashboard is a little overwhelmed with books at the moment, but we are slowly checking them out!

Our big stop during the trip was the Western Australia Museum – Geraldton. One of the branches of the museum, we caught up on local weather and animals, the history of the settlers and the Aboriginal culture, the famous shipwrecks of the past, as well as the HMAS Sydney II and the search for its remains. There was also a special exhibit on at the time about Australia’s exhibition to Antarctica
