Strolling around Madison

An eating adventure on Willy Street

· Wisconsin,Food

Good weather has finally come to Wisconsin, so it's time to get outside on the weekend and enjoy some of the sunshine. While your outdoors walk around a city and check out some new eateries. Over the past few weekends, I've been doing just that. This entry I'll be focusing on some foodie stops on Madison's Williamson St. (aka Willy Street.) Known as being a bit of a "hipster" neighborhood, this is a great place to check out some small art stores and galleries, as well as grab some good eats.

This is one of my favorite places to eat. They offer a great variety of ramen dishes, dumplings, and buns filled with a variety of meats and veggies. They also have an interesting mix of cocktails using ingredients like Midori and sake. I recommend the beef bun, a combination of Korean bbq beef, spicy mayo, and vegetables.

This tiny little place packs a lot of flavors, I’ve been here a few times and I’m a big fan of their rib sammies and pulled pork sandwiches. With options like flavorful potato salad and brisket chili adding sides are a worthy option as well. There isn’t much seating here, a few tables and some counter seats, plus if something runs out, it’s done for the day, so get here early!

A newer branch of the Madison Sourdough Company (located next door), this shop offers up new flavors daily. The macarons were perfect, with creamy fillings, moist cookie, and plenty of flavors (the banana caramel was the best on the day I went.) The cakes are fantastic as well. This is a great place to bring some friends for coffee, sweets, and good conversation.
